Macedonia: Daring thief steals justice minister's car outside ministry
читать дальшеSKOPJE, Macedonia (AP) _ An opportunistic thief made off with the justice
minister's official car over the weekend after commandeering the vehicle as
it sat idling right in front of the ministry, Macedonian authorities said
Monday. The hijacker hopped into Justice Minister Mihajlo Manevski's luxury
Mercedes vehicle, which the minister's bodyguard had left unattended outside
the ministry _ with its engine running _ on Saturday for a quick visit to a
kiosk. The thief then drove it away, direction unknown. The ignition had been
left on ``because the security guard wanted to preheat the car's cabin for
the minister. The Mercedes disappeared within seconds,'' police spokesman Ivo
Kotevski told The Associated Press on Monday. Police immediately informed
border authorities and were interviewing witnesses. Both car and thief were
still being sought and the case investigated, Kotevski said.
